Darren Burkett, Kaylee Harwood, and Janet Gigliotti play an assortment of other animals, and under Gordon Roberts’s musical direction, they sing Robert Reale’s complex tunes in superb three-part harmony

A pair of amphibious friends walked away with every prize they could get their gummy hands on at the 2010 Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards, which took place on June 21 at the Commodore Ballroom. In the Theatre for Young Audiences category, Carousel Theatre’s production of A Year With Frog and Toad was chosen as the outstanding production. Gordon Roberts won an award for his musical direction of that project, and the cast (Darren Burkett, Janet Gigliotti, Kaylee Harwood, Todd Talbot, and Allan Zinyk) shared the prize for outstanding performance. Harwood, who played one of the singing bluebirds as well as other woodland creatures, was chosen as this season’s most promising newcomer.
